Pirtek Racing’s rising star Jamie Caroline will hope to score big this weekend when the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford bursts back into life at Snetterton.
The sixth meeting of the season will see Jamie resume battle in the hotly-contested single-seater series after a six week summer break, with the visit to Norfolk marking the teenager’s second event as part of the Fortec Motorsport team.
In his maiden campaign of open-wheel competition, Jamie has proven to be nothing short of a revelation, with a series of battling performances on track helping him to secure four podium finishes so far.
Jamie also produced arguably the drive of the year so far at Donington Park back in April, where he made up nine places on the first lap of a wet opening race of the weekend.
The reigning Ginetta Jr champion heads for Snetterton keen to rebound from a challenging weekend in the final event prior to the summer break at Croft, where an incident on track in race two and then a post-race penalty in race three prevented him from securing the results that his pace deserved.
The 17-year-old will hope to challenge towards the front of the pack this weekend in order to make a move up the championship standings from his current ninth place, with just 35 points separating Jamie from a place inside the top six.
“I cant wait to get back in the car this weekend after the six week break, and I’m hopeful that we can put in a good performance to kick-start the second half of the season,” he said. “Croft was a difficult weekend on my debut with Fortec and I don’t think the results there reflected our performance, which is something I hope we can put right at Snetterton.
“I was on the pace during testing at the circuit before the season started and I feel confident about my chances when I return there for the race meeting, especially as I now have a race meeting under my belt with my new team and we both have a better understanding of how each other work.
“In the last few rounds, I’ve lost out on points through no fault of my own so the first target this weekend is to score some strong points in all three races and hopefully we’ll be in a position to challenge at the front for at least a podium finish or two.”
After qualifying on Saturday 30 July at 09.00, the first of three F4 British Championship races will be at 13.55 later that day, with race two at 17.15. Race three then follows at 14.50 on Sunday and will feature in ITV4’s extensive BTCC coverage. Live timing and results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com.
