Building a Reputation

17/02/2015 | General

Bradfords Building Supplies Limited has been trading since 1770 and now has a total of 35 branches (Including one Specialist Tool Centre) throughout the South West, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.   All of them are networked to provide an exceptional resource for building materials and products and specialise in every aspect of roofing, drainage, timber, doors and windows, tools, bricks, ironmongery, kitchens & bathrooms.

The company is split into three divisions: building supplies; plant hire; and timber engineering.   With the company supplying a huge range of products and services means having an equally huge fleet of vehicles, over 150 in fact. These are maintained at two workshops at Misterton, near Crewkerne and at a smaller depot at Glastonbury.

Pirtek Exeter is often called in to repair hydraulic damage on the vehicles as regional transport and workshop manager Stuart Paull explains:  “As trade has picked up, and house building is almost back to pre-recession levels, we are supplying not just building materials but pre-assembled building components and the plant to build everything.   Our fleet operates anywhere between Redruth to Castleford and if anything goes wrong, you need to deal with it fast or you will have upset and disappointed customers,” he says.   “We have spent years building our customer relationships by providing a good service and getting products to the customer on time.   Our fleet has grown progressively younger which means it is more reliable. All the fleet have a six-week service as well as a daily inspection as part of our preventative maintenance programme.   If any hydraulic part is suspect, we call in Pirtek Exeter to replace it.   As all the delivery lorries have an Atlas crane, there is plenty of hose work to maintain.   We also do all the new vehicle preparation as well as MoT preparation.”

Stuart Paull reports that the speed of response from Pirtek Exeter is key to the success of a decade-long relationship.   “We use Pirtek because they are reliable and we really appreciate the effort they put into keeping our fleet on the road.  Our MSST Chris Culver, has put in a lot of hard work during the last 10 years and has set the standard for hydraulic work. We have now become a Pirtek national account but we can we can still call Chris directly and tell him what the problem is over the phone, and he will come equipped for the problem.  Thinking about it, we have been a longstanding customer of Pirtek for the 11 years I have been here, and I know we have used them long before that. I don't think we have ever used anyone else for hydraulic work,” he concludes.

“That says a lot for their service, products and prices. They do what you want, when you want it.

I can use them for everything from call outs, site breakdowns, hose replacements down to spill kits, and their response is outstandingly fast.”
