Donington next for Jordan and Pirtek Racing

15/04/2015 | Racing

Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan will head to his home track of Donington Park for the second event in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (18/19 April) with a clear aim of having a stronger weekend in the works MG6 GT run by Triple Eight Racing.

By their own high standards, Andrew and Pirtek Racing had a modest start to the season at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend. “We had some set-up issues and the car wasn’t where we wanted it to be, but we made some big changes for the third race at Brands and it was a lot better,” said Andrew, who was challenging for the overall podium when his MG suffered a front puncture.

Andrew now plans to take the pace from race three at Brands Hatch to his home track of Donington Park and really get his championship bid on track. “Donington is my home track and I love racing there,” said the Lichfield-based racer. “We had two tests there before the season started and we were quick on the media day.” During the pre-season test and media day at Donington in late March Andrew posted sixth fastest time, just a third of a second away from the fastest times.

He will start the Donington weekend in eleventh place in the championship standings, but the results from Brands Hatch mean that no driver has any real advantage at this early stage. However, the drivers at the head of the current standings will be carrying up to 75kg in success ballast and Andrew says that will be a big handicap for drivers like Matt Neal. “If you get into the top 10 in qualifying with maximum ballast you’ll have done very well,” he said.

Undoubtedly the East Midlands venue is one of Andrew’s favourite tracks. “I love Donington and have won races there,” he said. “It’s a proper old-school fast circuit!”

Pirtek is Europe's number one provider of hydraulic solutions and mobile hose replacement, with over 170 centres supported by over 700 mobile service workshops throughout Europe. Offering solutions to a number of business sectors, including the automotive industry.

After qualifying on Saturday 18 April at 15.35, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.30 on Sunday, with race two at 14.25 and race three at 17.15. All three races will be broadcast on ITV4. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
