Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan will hope to start the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season on a high when the new campaign kicks off this weekend at Brands Hatch.
The opening meeting of the year will mark the start of an exciting new phase of Andrew’s career as he embarks on his first race weekend with the West Surrey Racing team.
Andrew’s move to the multiple championship winning outfit was one of the big stories of the winter, and will see him competing in a rear wheel driver touring car for the first time.
In order to acclimatise to that switch, Andrew has been hard at work during the winter getting used to his new BMW 125i M Sport; which will run in Pirtek’s striking chrome colours during the year ahead.
Having embarked on a testing programme that has seen him take to the track in both the UK and overseas, Andrew heads to the tight and twisty Brands Hatch Indy circuit in optimistic mood and focused on picking up three strong results to kickstart his championship challenge.
“Testing has gone well during the winter and I think I’ve settled in well with the team,” he said. “It hasn’t taken long to get to grips with the BMW, although this weekend will be another new experience given that it will be the first time I’ve actually raced a rear wheel drive touring car.
“There is no doubt in my mind that consistency is going to be a key factor in building a championship challenge this season, and with that in mind, it’s important that we get some good points on the board this weekend.
“It’s hugely exciting for both myself and Pirtek to be racing with WSR and representing BMW this season, and I can’t wait for the action to start.”
After qualifying on Saturday 1 April at 15.40, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.32 on Sunday, with race two at 14.17 and race three at 17.12.
