Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing will compete with works support from BMW in the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after a confirmation that West Surrey Racing team is to become a full manufacturer-backed team.

Andrew, who clinched the Independents’ title for the third time in his career last year, was the first driver to sign with WSR, having agreed terms on a deal back in November.

Following on from that announcement, the 27-year-old was able to complete three days of solid testing before Christmas at the wheel of his new BMW 125i M Sport, which was then revealed in it’s striking Pirtek Racing livery at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC in early January.

The announcement of Colin Turkington and Rob Collard as Andrew’s West Surrey Racing team-mates for 2017 was followed by news that the team will run as a full-blown BMW manufacturer outfit for the first time this year.

It means Andrew will now compete under the BMW Pirtek Racing name for the season ahead, where he will hope to benefit from a range of improvements that have been made to the BMW in recent months; including the development of an all-new engine.

“Pirtek have been with me since 2005 and this season we will be entered into the BTCC as BMW Pirtek Racing, which is something that I am hugely proud of,” he said. “Pirtek have been with me so long and I wouldn’t have been racing without them, so for them to now be part of a BMW manufacturer-supported team is great.

“Although we are running under a different name, I have the same car, the same support and the same input on my car as Colin and Rob, and we are all one team.

“I have been blown away by the attention to detail from West Surrey Racing, and the work they are doing is second to none. Every time I leave the workshop I feel very at ease and relaxed that everything is being taken care of.”

Andrew and the BMW Pirtek Racing team are currently in Spain, with pre-season testing ongoing at the Parcmotor circuit near Barcelona.
