Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan made his mark on the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend after coming out on top of the pile in the event’s inaugural BTCC Shootout.
At the wheel of the Motorbase Performance-run Ford Focus that has carried him to the Independents Championship lead at the half-way stage of the British Touring Car Championship season, Andrew beat six of his regular rivals to the title after three days of action in front of the crowd of more than 200,000.
Mixed weather conditions across the event would provide an added challenge for those drivers tasked with tackling the iconic 1.15-mile hill climb, which passes by Goodwood House before heading up to the top of Goodwood Hill.
Andrew and his fellow BTCC stars enjoyed two runs each across the three days active competition, with the Pirtek-liveried Focus being quickest of the touring cars machines in three of the five sessions prior to the shootout itself.
Impressively, Andrew was more than three seconds clear of his rivals during a wet run on Saturday morning, whilst two of the practice sessions saw him inside the top six overall amongst the eclectic mix of cars taking part.
The actual shootout, which aired live on Sky Sports, saw Andrew post what would be the quickest time for a BTCC car up the hill, with a time of 55.50sec being nearly a second faster than the Honda of Matt Neal.
It concluded a successful weekend for the Red Bull athlete, who also wowed fans with a series of demonstration runs in an Audi S1 from the World Rallycross Championship.

“The Goodwood Hill provides a unique challenge with changing grip and the differing light as you head through the trees, but the Pirtek Focus was more than up to the job, especially when it was wet as no-one could get close our times in those conditions.
To win the Shootout was fantastic, but it was just as pleasing to see how well recieved the car was in the paddock across the weekend. With more than 200,000 motorsport and motoring enthusiasts in attendance, it only allowed us to take the BTCC to a fresh audience but also provided an unrivalled way in which to promote my sponsors and I’m delighted with how it went.”
