Caroline wins again for Pirtek

24/08/2015 | Racing

Pirtek Racing’s Jamie Caroline took his sixth win of the season in round 13 of the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship at Knockhill over the weekend (22/23 August).

Caroline, 16 years-old, has been selected by Pirtek Racing and Andrew Jordan for support in the series for young racers and is racing with the HHC Motorsport squad. However, after another fine performance in the opening race at Knockhill Jamie had a disastrous second race and had to struggle home in 18th place after a pit stop.

“It started off well and I took my first pole position,” said Jamie after qualifying on pole as half a second covered the top 11 cars. He then won the weekend’s first race by three seconds in a commanding display to score his sixth win of the season so far. “I got the win and fastest lap, so maximum points,” he said.

However, it was a very different story for round 14 on Sunday when he again started from pole. “The lights on the bridge weren’t working and I couldn’t see the second set of lights,” he explained of a disastrous start. “I was sitting waiting for the lights to come and the next thing I knew everyone was coming past me.”

By the time the pack arrived at the first corner, Jamie was back in seventh place. He tried to make up ground at the first corner but spun after contact with his team mate. Further contact left the front bodywork sticking up on the Pirtek car and he was forced to limp round to the pits for his pit crew to re-fit the bodywork. That cost him a lap and he could only finish 18th.

“I made a little mistake going into the second corner and ended up taking myself out of the race. It’s not how I wanted the weekend to go. I was pushing to get another win because that’s what I love to do, but sometimes it doesn’t go your way. It was a terrible end to the weekend.” Jamie is now three points behind Senna Proctor in the championship with six races still to run.

Pirtek is Europe's number one provider of fluid transfer solutions and mobile hose replacement, with over 170 centres supported by over 700 mobile service workshops throughout Europe. Offering solutions to a number of business sectors, including the automotive industry.
