Caroline confident ahead of Croft

Pirtek-backed teenaged racer Jamie Caroline wants more race wins in the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship as the schedule heads towards the mid-point of the season at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire this weekend (27/28 June).

Caroline, who was 16 years-old earlier this year, was selected by Pirtek Racing and Andrew Jordan for support this season as he contests the BTCC-support series for young racers and is one of the key championship contenders with the renowned HHC Motorsport.  Jamie scored a mighty double victory at Oulton Park last time out and slashed the points’ gap to championship leader Senna Proctor from 36 down to 21 in a single race weekend. Jamie now lies second overall in the points and is determined to claw back more points ahead of the six-week summer break in the race schedule.

“We’ve shown that we can get the wins and now we’ve sorted the car we’re going all out to win again,” said Jamie as he looked ahead to the Croft weekend. “HHC has done a lot of work on the car since Thruxton and that really showed at Oulton Park. Another two wins at Croft would be great for me and the team as it is the local track for HHC.” The HHC squad is based in Harrogate, a short way down the A1 from Croft.

“We tested at Croft a couple of months ago and we had good pace,” continued Jamie. “We went well in the races last year although we didn’t get the results. However it is Senna Proctor’s home track so he’s going to be very strong. But I feel very confident about Croft now we’ve had the two wins at Oulton Park.”

After qualifying at 2.40pm on Saturday afternoon, the first race starts at 5.55pm on Saturday with the second race at 3.20pm on Sunday. The Sunday race will be broadcast live on ITV4 during the extensive BTCC programme.
