Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing ready for Silverstone challenge

BMW Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan says he is ready for the challenge that Silverstone is sure to provide as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads for the Northamptonshire circuit for the ninth meeting of the year.

Andrew heads into the weekend with confidence on a high following a strong performance last time out at Rockingham, where he secured a third win of the season at the wheel of his West Surrey Racing-run BMW 125i M Sport.

That win – which followed victories at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park earlier in the year – allowed Andrew to move up to sixth in the championship standings with just two rounds, and six races, left to run.

Silverstone is a circuit that has been kind to the 28-year-old in recent seasons, with three podium finishes in the last two years; including a victory twelve months ago.

The high-speed National layout – which features three long straights and limited corners – is set to favour front-wheel drive cars, which have been the dominant force at Silverstone over the past decade.

However, with a strong package underneath him, Andrew remains confident of bringing home solid points on race day.

“Rockingham was a big boost, and the result in race three is one that we really deserved after some of the bad luck we’d had in recent meetings,” he said. “Heading to Silverstone, I’m expecting the racing to be super close as always, and it’ll be the same in qualifying where a few tenths could make all the difference.

“Silverstone may be quite a tough weekend for us as there aren’t many corners where we can really make of the most of the BMWs fantastic handling, and the corners that there are all lead onto long straights that will favour those cars that are quick in a straight line.

“Despite that, we’ll keep our heads down and work hard to maximise the package we have, and look to bring home as many points as possible from the three races.”

After qualifying on Saturday 16 September at 15:45, Silverstone’s three BTCC races will take place on Sunday at 11:57, 14:32 and 17:22.

All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4, with live timing available at www.tsl-timing.com.
