Caroline ready for Snetterton challenge

Pirtek-backed teenaged racer Jamie Caroline is ready to continue his title bid in the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship as the season resumes after the mid- season break for rounds 11 and 12 at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk (8/9 August).

Caroline, who was 16 years-old earlier this year, was selected by Pirtek Racing and Andrew Jordan for support this season as he contests the BTCC-support series for young racers and is now leading the championship with the renowned HHC Motorsport.

Jamie went into the summer break in stunning form thanks to four wins on the trot at Oulton Park and Croft in June, with a level of dominance rarely seen in this hugely competitive championship. After a couple of difficult weekends at Brands Hatch and Donington Park, Jamie was really in his stride at Thruxton and then stamped his authority on the championship with four straight victories. At Croft, he won the second race by 12 seconds, one of the biggest winning margins ever seen in Ginetta Juniors.

Now comes the start of the second half of the season and Jamie is determined to continue that winning form at Snetterton. He has four wins and two other podiums from 10 races to date and heads to the East Anglian track with a 30-point lead over early season championship leader Senna Proctor. Although there are still 10 races to come this season, the title race looks like it could come down to a straight battle between Caroline and Proctor.

“We had a tough start to the season but HHC have done a mega job with the car and we’re back to winning ways,” said Jamie after the pair of wins at Croft. “I want to keep that winning form at Snetterton.”

After qualifying at 1.50pm on Saturday afternoon, the first race starts at 4.30pm on Saturday with the second race at 1.50pm on Sunday. The Sunday race will be broadcast live on ITV4 during the extensive BTCC programme.
